Kemira is a global 2.8 billion euro chemicals company focused on serving customers in water-intensive industries. The company offers water quality and quantity management that improves customers' energy, water, and raw material efficiency.
In 2007 Kemira in Bradford purchased a Concetti Continua tubular FFS machine. The Technical Manager at Kemira Chemicals, Mr Richard Ryder said, “When the search for a more robust 25kg FFS machine began, the objective was clear. We needed to eliminate the 25kg bag seal failures that were causing problems both at the Customer and at our plant. The [Concetti] Continua Machine was chosen amongst other benefits, on its ability to achieve zero seal failures under the conditions seen at the plant, whilst also allowing the production throughputs to grow towards the speed capability of the machine. The machine has not disappointed to date, we do expect to purchase another unit as the need arises".
The second order duly followed in 2010, the third in 2011 and in 2012 Kemira will install the fourth and final Continua machine. What better recommendation could there be?
Each Continua™ is equipped with a gravity fed net weigher to fill 25Kg bags of dry polyacrylamides used for water treatment and purification and produces up to 840 bags/hr and provides the sack packaging at Kemira’s Bradford plant. Filled bags are fed into an existing robot palletiser and stretch hooder.
The FFS machine is fitted with a “K” seal system designed to produce a squarer bag which is easier to palletise and gives improved stack presentation.
Reliable closing of the FFS bag was an important feature for Kemira and the Concetti cleaning system that cleans dust from the sealing area prior to sealing has proved itself both in pre-order trials and in service.
