The IPF range of machines has been designed for packaging small format bags. The field of application for this machinery involves a variety of production sectors including pet food, pet litter, animal feed, detergent, fertiliser, and seed. Thanks to their reduced size, these machines can fit easily into any production area. The IPF range are characterised by the fact that they are equipped with a central handling/traverse unit that can process several bags at the same time. The traverse device is composed of an oscillating system with two contracting arms that support the full-bag transfer system and the bag-mouth opening system. The closing movement of the arms executes two phases simultaneously:

  • The suction cups of the bag-mouth opening system are brought into adherence with the upper edge of the empty bag that has been withdrawn from the laterally positioned bag storage trolley;
  • The gripping organs of the transfer unit grip the upper bag edge of the previously filled bag, which is still being held by the bag-holder.

The central unit then traverses towards the closing station. During this advancing movement, the aligned full bag is delivered to the closing system while the opening unit draws apart the suction cups gripping the empty bag, thus opening the bag mouth.

The IPF machines can operate with either flat or gussetted bags made of paper or PE and the bag-closing phase can be executed by sewing with or without crepe paper, heatsealing, double fold-over and gluing.
